Data Fortified: Security Solution That Never Sleeps

Presented by Richard Matthewman at RA CyberSec Summit 2026

RA CyberSec Summit 2026, a strategic cybersecurity leadership platform organised by Risk Associates, brought together regulators, enterprise leaders, and technology experts to explore the evolving landscape of digital risk, governance, and data protection. The summit was hosted across two major cities in Pakistan, taking place on 2 February 2026 at the Marriott Hotel Karachi – Grand Ballroom, followed by the Islamabad edition on 4 February 2026 at the Air University Auditorium.

Across both editions, the summit featured a series of expert presentations and thought-leadership discussions aimed at strengthening cyber resilience across Pakistan and the broader region.

One of the standout featured presentations was delivered by Richard Matthewman, who introduced a data-centric security approach designed to address the growing challenge of protecting sensitive information in increasingly complex digital environments.

During his presentation titled “Data Fortified: Security Solution That Never Sleeps,” Matthewman emphasised the need to shift security thinking away from traditional perimeter-focused models toward strategies that protect data at its source. As organisations continue to expand across hybrid infrastructures, cloud platforms, and distributed systems, the ability to discover, classify, monitor, and secure critical data has become a strategic necessity.

A key highlight of the presentation was a live demonstration of GuardWare’s Data-Centric Security capabilities, showcasing how organisations can achieve deeper visibility into their information environments while strengthening governance and compliance frameworks.

At the centre of the demonstration was GuardWare Discover PCI, a purpose-built data discovery solution designed to support PCI DSS v4.0 compliance and cardholder data protection mandates. The tool enables organisations to identify where sensitive information resides across complex environments including endpoints, servers, email systems, file shares, and cloud platforms.

Using fast agentless scanning and automated classification capabilities, GuardWare Discover PCI helps security and IT leaders locate and identify regulated data such as PCI, PII, PHI, CHD, and other sensitive business content. By delivering detailed metadata insights and real-time exposure reporting, the platform provides organisations with the visibility required to enforce governance controls and reduce compliance risk.

The solution also supports continuous monitoring and classification, allowing organisations to detect new sensitive data as it emerges across their digital ecosystem. With decentralised remediation workflows and automated alerts, data owners are empowered to take corrective action while maintaining oversight from central security teams.

Explaining the importance of this approach, Richard Matthewman noted:

“You cannot protect what you cannot see. The first step toward effective data-centric security is gaining complete visibility into where sensitive information exists across the enterprise. Once organisations understand their data landscape, they can implement governance and protection strategies that remain active at all times.”

The demonstration illustrated how GuardWare Discover PCI operates across enterprise environments through secure remote scanning of Microsoft 365 services such as email and SharePoint, as well as connections to Windows and Linux systems via encrypted protocols. The platform scans files directly in place without moving sensitive data, enabling organisations to maintain operational integrity while identifying exposure risks.

By combining data discovery, classification, monitoring, and encryption capabilities, GuardWare provides organisations with a structured pathway toward continuous compliance, proactive risk management, and stronger data governance frameworks.

The presentation resonated strongly with enterprise leaders, CISOs, and technology decision makers attending the summit, reinforcing the importance of building security strategies around the protection of core information assets.

As highlighted throughout RA CyberSec Summit 2026, data has become the most critical asset within modern enterprises. Protecting that data requires visibility, governance, and persistent security mechanisms that operate continuously across the organisation’s digital infrastructure.

The discussion ultimately reinforced a central message of the summit: in an era defined by constant cyber threats and expanding digital ecosystems, true resilience begins with securing the data itself.
